PosiStep 19: Researching with PositoAI: scores, screeners and their limits

PosiStep 19 of 20 · 8 min read

You now know the concepts behind every number on a company page. This PosiStep puts PositoAI's tools together into a simple research routine, and is honest about what a score can and cannot do.

The Positivity Score and the Positivity Index

The Positivity Score is PositoAI's daily score for each company. It combines several public measures of a company's valuation, financial strength, ownership and price behaviour into one number, and deducts for serious red flags. The exact method is PositoAI's own.

The Positivity Index ranks companies by that score, worldwide and within each country. It is a fast way to see where a company stands, and a starting point for questions.

What a score cannot do

A score is built from past and present data, so it cannot see the future, and it can be wrong when the data is wrong or unusual. It treats all industries by the same rules, though banks, software firms and miners differ. It does not know a company's management, products or competition the way a careful reader can.

So use the score as a starting point, never as a buy or sell signal.

The other tools

PosiFunda (the Funda tab) explains each figure for one company in plain words, compared with similar companies. PosiFlag shows red and yellow flags. PosiPenta scores five pillars, Price, Earnings, Nitro, Torque and Anchor, from 0 to 100, refreshed weekly. Go Deep, Pattern, Actions and News hold the details you studied in Weeks 2 and 3.

To find companies: Screeners (low P/E, low debt, high ROE…), Top 10 lists, Indices and PosiCap classes. To weigh them: Compare puts companies side by side, and Watchlist keeps track.

A simple research checklist

1. What does the company do, and how does it earn money? 2. How big is it (market cap, PosiCap)? 3. Are revenue and profit growing (Go Deep)? 4. Is the balance sheet strong: debt, Owes vs Owns? 5. Do profits turn into cash? 6. How do P/E, P/B and ROE compare with peers (Funda)? 7. Who owns it, and are shares pledged (Pattern)? 8. Any red or yellow flags (PosiFlag)? 9. What does recent official news say? 10. What could go wrong, and would you still be comfortable?

Write short answers. The goal is understanding, not a perfect score.

Where PositoAI fits

Every item on the checklist links to a tab or page on PositoAI, and each company page has an Inform button to pass your findings to a friend. PosiStep 20 walks through the whole checklist for one company.

Try it

Made-up company Sage Foods ranks in the top 5% by Positivity Score. Which is the most sensible next step?

A high score is a reason to look closer, not a buy signal. The checklist shows whether the details support it.

What this does not tell you

PositoAI's tools organise public information; they cannot remove uncertainty. Data can be delayed or wrong, scores can miss what only a careful reader would notice, and none of it is investment advice.

Quick quiz

How should the Positivity Score be used?

The score summarises public data; it is a starting point for questions, not advice.

Which tab explains each figure for one company compared with peers?

The Funda tab (PosiFunda) explains P/E, P/B, ROE, Owes vs Owns and more for that company, compared with similar companies.

Which is a limit of any single score?

Scores are built from data; they miss qualitative factors and can be wrong when data is.

What are PosiPenta's five pillars?

PosiPenta scores Price, Earnings, Nitro, Torque and Anchor, each 0–100, refreshed weekly.

Which tool helps you find companies with low debt or high ROE?

Screeners filter companies by chosen figures such as low debt, low P/E or high ROE.
